This is such a happy, cheery colour. Photo taken in (rare) bright sunlight actual colour darker.

Thanks for the review! I was just looking at this ink yesterday, wishing I could see it in use. Perfect timing. :)

You are most welcome. I love it as a daily writer, it doesn't have that neon glow that breaks one's eyes! I hope you get to try it.

Thanks for the review it's such as beautiful orange color. I have a list I'm building of samples to try and I've added this one based on your review.

I absolutely adore the color, but I can't stand the lump of gunk that I get on my nibs after a day or two. I wish that Diamine could do something to cure this problem. I may try it again, but right now it's just another bottle that sits on a shelf.

Pterodactylus, this is fantastic, thank you. I love the Apache Sunset, your sample show the shading off beautifully.

Thank you - I wonder can we ever get enough of Diamine inks?!

I agree with you, it is very frustrating. The first time I saw the goo I nearly passed out! But I have learned to wipe and write. It seems to do the job and also flush the nib every so often.

Here it takes more than a day or two, more like weeks.

but yes, it slowly clots on an unused pen. Just rincing the nib with water now and then does the trick for me.

This ink looks great in demonstrators.

Inks dark enough o be legible, and light enough to be transparent in the reservoir, are not very common.

Everything is impermanent.

thanks for the great review of a nice ink

You will find that orange crud appears on almost any manufacturers ink of about the same colour. It must be one particular chemical. Pens with a safety breather hole in the cap are the worst offenders for bringing it out.

I did compare Diamine Pumpkin with Diamine Sunset in a side by side...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
