Wancher Colorful Silk Road Green Matcha

This is my first ink review, so constructive criticism will be appreciated. I did not see a review of this ink and figured I would plug the hole.

I am not sure if this is same series as the other Wancher inks because the bottle (pictured below) is very different. This bottle is glass and circular rather than the v-shaped plastic bottles in the other reviews. Interestingly, the label does not identify the ink itself (aside from saying Wancher) and looks like an expanded low resolution image that was rather hastily applied and slightly askew. The name I am using comes from the vendor site where I purchased it (engeika on ebay).

Overall, I think this is a good ink if you like the color. It just did not work for me.

I scaled down the images for posting but can PM links to the full-size versions upon request.

Edited for typos. Hopefully I got them all.

I picked mine up at the ebay store of engeika, whose name shows up a lot on this board (usual disclaimers, just a happy customer, not affiliated, etc.). When I wrote this, it was $8 for a 100ml bottle (the pictured bottle), plus shipping. You get flat shipping on ink orders. A single bottle order costs the same as a four bottle order, for example. So it works out to a reasonable price for the volume of ink.

I also have the Wancher green, blue and black. They are nice inks that do glide like silk across the paper.

I probably got it from the same vendor as I buy from them regularly. Mine came in a very soft, flimsy plastic bottle and the triangle bottles were included. Since these bottles appeared to be a bit more substantial, I did decant to the triangles. I like the ink and am using it now in a Lamy. If anyone is interested, I would be willing to sell or trade for something else.

It's a nice ink, just not on the top of my list.

Nice review Eeyvind.

Thank you for this fabulous review of a truly gorgeous colour. I am reminded of Diamine's Sherwood Green.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
