That's a great looking pen.

I think this is the same celluloid here:

Thanks for all the photos - I've always wanted a better look at one of these.

Thanks !

The ink was Waterman Florida Blue. It looks a bit darker because of the rich ink flow of the pen.

Thank you for this marvelous review! I'm one who haunts the website of Mora Stylos frequently and yearns to own one of these beautiful pen someday. I must say your review has sharpened desire for one of these pens. Congratulations on your pen(s) and may you use and enjoy them in good health for many years!

Thanks ! I must say it has been a real problem to choose a model. The "Lemon Peps" was incredibly beautiful, the "Blanc perlé" as well. And the blue marbled celluloid "Art Deco", the "Lie de vin" or "Bronze doré" Dorics... All this would be so much easier with infinite money.

Size comparison with the MB149:

Thank you! I've seen photos of these pens before but always thought they were smaller.

Actually there is a smaller model, called the "Rikiki" (which is "childish" for tiny), but it's still quite large, maybe closer to the 146 (I haven't seen those in real). There's one bigger as well, called the "Giant" but the Classic is big enough already.

Taking these pictures reminded me why I was rarely using the 149 (and the M1000 also) anymore : thanks to their position on the Oldwin, there will never be dead skin to clean off the threads after a long writing session.

I looked up the dimensions on the Mora Stylos website. The Giant is huge. I'd probably like it! :)

well done

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
