I just have some general questions about Danitrio as well as Urushi. Although I do have some Urushi pens, I am by no means expert about them, so bear with me if my questions seem silly!
I have never seen Danitrio pens in the flesh, although on their website they look fabulous of course.
But it is not clear for me where they are made exactly, nor how an upstart company (9-10 years old??) could become so adept at this art form. So the guiding principle behind the company and how they came to be is not clear for me.
Further, I was not, until now, aware of the fact that many Japanese companies use Urushi lacquer taken from trees in China, rather than Japan. It is of course a rather esoteric idea if that is important or not; however it does interest me to know how Danitrio sees that, and I do personally attach some value to the source of materials in a luxury product. (Consider all those 'Swiss Made' watches that are only 50% made in Switzerland for instance). So far, I understand that Namiki only use Urushi from Japanese trees and Nakaya uses Japanese and/or Chinese Urushi lacquers.
Anyway, all input/reactions appreciated !
