In short:

I like this ink, because it is well behaved on a wide range of papers, is not too saturated/intensive to be used in a business environment, but has enough 'spirit' to be far from boring. The use of this ink will probably be regarded as distinctive, not as eccentric. On the other hand, it is lively enough to be used in personal correspondence.

 

Although it is not advertised as being water-resistant, it all but is. I would not hesitate to use it on envelopes.

Looks a lot like (the version I own of) Herbin Poussiere de Lune from your scan. Have you used that ink, and if so, do they compare?

Thanks for reviewing this! It's very aubergine-y. Kaweco inks are great quality for the money: their sepia is one of my favourites.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
