Iroshizuku Tsutsuji

I can't believe no one has done a review of this here yet. I don't tend to like pinks, but this one has won me over totally!

I can't say enough good things about this ink. The colour is vibrant but not eye searing, deep and rich and delicious. It behaves perfectly, and it shades wonderfully.

It looks great on all types of paper - CF, Rhodia, and the more absorbent paper in my art sketchbook.

And did I mention the sheen??? :cloud9:

I have LOTS more images of this ink in my photobucket review album here.

Thanks for a great review. I cannot see myself writing in pink but I'm sure many others would enjoy it. The shading's nice though.

I still look back at the sample of writing with this ink in my notebook from the March Toronto FPN meeting - you may have found the ink that could turn me to pink! Thanks for the review and for your general enthusiasm about inks.

Beautiful! I had never met a pink ink I could stand (and I sampled maybe 8 from various brands) until tsutsuji and kosumosu, both of which I adore.

Kosumosu is next on my list. I can't wait to try it!

And PaperDarts - I'm insanely enthusiastic about inks, and I'm just grateful to finally have people who can benefit from rather than feel like they are enduring my enthusiasm with great pains!

Excellent review. Just because every thread needs a counterpoint, or a devil's advocate, I have to say that I love pinks, but I find this ink just too bright. For me, at least. I can't help preferring Kosumosu and Yama-budo.

You've certainly made the Tsutsuji look very nice here, however. Luckily I still have a sample, which you are inspiring me to try again.

It's the orange that saves kosumusu for me.

+1

the orange element to Kosumosu is absolutely lovely.

Last week I mixed Iroshizuku Yama Budo with Diamine scarlett and I guess it looks a bit like this Tsutsuji!

Very nice review, thanks!

Great review!

I have this ink and I LOVE it. I can absolutely agree with what you have written

To those who said they're not sure about pink ink: This is the pink ink to convert you! It's the kind of pink that you can't help but feel happy about, and it's dark enough/saturated enough that I even use it at work sometimes.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
