For those of you who want to buy the nice inks of P.W. Akkerman. They now have a new website on http://www.vulpennen.nl/. This includes a web shop. I ordered some ink and it seems that they deliver worldwide. You can pay with PayPal.

Awesome!! The only question I have is, has anyone figured out how to get the add to card button to work in the translated page?

I've already placed my order so let me know if you want a color here in the US. I bought 7 different colors and I'm expecting them by Monday.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

That was faster than I expected. I ordered on Sunday night and the lady from Hermes parcel service stood in front of my door Wednesday afternoon. I expected delivery by Deutsche Post DHL.

Can I ask how much each bottle was including shipping? I love the colors and the bottle design, but the pricepoint is a little much.

I am going to see if I can get some fellow Canadians to go in on a group order with me. I'm thrilled!

I'm interested if so, let me know

lol - the bottles are certainly lovely and, like you, I wouldn't mind trying out the ink as well.

A bit too expensive for me though - $22 for the bottle of ink + who knows what for shipment (and after reading the thread mentioning that NL postal service is rather unreliable...?) A group buy might be the only way to make this affordable.

You get a massive amount of ink for that price, 150 ml.

 That is very true. :hmm1: And, even if you end up not liking the ink....you can give out lots of samples, and still have a beautiful bottle to keep!

I may have to rethink this....

Edit - guess it is just as well that I am not smart enough to figure out how to order any ink from them. I guess the translator I have sucks ('scuse the language) I have managed to get to the open account page, or whatever it is called, but can't even figure out all of the words, let alone find the USA on their drop down list of countries. My "translator" won't translate it - it just takes me back to the home page when I hit translate. It's starting to make me angry. :bonk:

Me too. I had done the conversions for a bunch of different size bottles, and 150 ml is roughly 5 oz. (I had done the conversions with an app I found online a while back, and then just added up the 100 ml and 50 ml equivalents in ounces to get that figure.)

I haven't looked at the website. Is it possible to order samples? That way I would really know what colors I liked and that behaved well in my pens before committing to that much ink.

Glad to know that I am not the only one who can't read the site. Can anyone tell us how much shipping is to somewhere in the US?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
