This year is flying by, we are fast approaching the third show in our 2012 programme - THE NORTHERN PEN SHOW - and its going to be bigger and better than ever. The hotel has re-modeled the event space and made it larger, we have more dealers than ever before so there will be thousands of vintage pens to drool over, contemporary pens are represented so far by Onoto, Worcester Pen Company and Visconti. For the repair buffs, Pen Repair book author Laurence Oldfield and hopefully Jim Marshall will be around as will Roger Wolfe of Custom Pen Parts, Derrick Purser from Classic Engineering and of course FPNs very own Oxonian will be hiding in the corner busily grinding nibs and giving advice.

So who fancies a day at the seaside with loads of pens thrown in - what could be better!

So who's coming to the Northern?

Went up to Lytham on Thursday to take a look at the remodeled venue, its great! seems quite a bit more space.

The 2012 show will be the largest Northern Pen Show ever! Getting very excited about it now.

Oh well, looks like it will just be the three of us there then, plus Jack <<<<<<< Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Looking forward to my first show of the year, especially after talking to people who were at the previous two and how good they have been.

See you all there, coffee in the cafe on the main street at 9 AM, it's behind the venue, turn right, about 70-80 yards along the road on the corner. You'll recognise us by the wee fella on the left here, avidly watching the road for motor bikes. Oh there is a distinct possibility there will be some pens in amongst the coffee on the table, before we amble along for the show opening at 10AM.

The plan is we will be making a weekend of it.... I persuaded her that Blackpool has far more going for it than any Mediterranean resort she cares to mention. :roflmho:

And so the list grows, slowly but surely, a meeting of some old friends, meeting for the first time some already known through the www. and most likely making some new friends.

Also there are pens, lots and lots of pens Posted Image

Very disappointed that I won't be able to make the Show this year. My dad being in hospital has jinxed any plans I had for this year.
Not long to go now, so hope everyone has a good time.

Only three days to go and counting!Posted Image

As usual I'm way behind on getting my stuff organised for it, but today my five year old grandson - Archie, decided to help me, needless to say that although it was a lot of fun I am now even further behind!Posted Image

I'm really excited- and nervous - about this show, its the first time that Jeremy and I have organised it, and its the biggest Northern show yet!

The Northern has always been a special show for me, it was the first show that Ann and I ever attended as visitors, it was also the first show that I bought a pen at (A Sheaffer Legacy with a Richard Binder nib, bought from Sarj.)
Even when I was on the organising team of the London Writing Equipment Show and then later organising our own UK Pen Show events the Northern was still my favourite show. Now I feel a bit like Victor Kiam of Remington Razor fame (you have to be of a certain age to understand what I'm talking about) who participated in his own t.v. commercials stating something like "I loved the razor so much, I bought the company" . With me its "I loved the Northern so much that we bought the show"!

So, looking forward to seeing old friends, making new friends and chattiing to fellow pen freaks and seeing Jack of course!

As usual at UK Pen Show events FPN identifier badges will be available at the entry table so that we can all spot fellow FPNers - don't be shy - say hello to each other! I'll be wearing a UK Pen Shows organiser badge but you can find me on the Cathedral Pens table.

One final thing, please support the raffle that we are holding, this is for Cerebral Palsy which is the charity that Alan & Brenda Lloyd has supported for years.

Finally, one final thing Posted Image Please say hello to Ann she will be manning (or womanning?) the entry table as you come in.

SEE YOU ALL ON SUNDAY!
