Yes, a departure from ebonite and urushi--but my lord I am smitten!

Yup, saw this on twitter yesterday. It's BEAUTIFUL...

And rather far out of my price range. :)

Need a pen repaired or a nib re-ground? I'd love to help you out.

Oh thanks God... it's not my thing!

Equally grateful that I don't care for metal pens... It is beautiful though.

Nice to look at but for me too expensive, heavy and I don't care for all metal pens. Boy it's almost the weight of 3 Piccolo Writers. Still it's a good looking pen!

hmmm, is it an iron butterfly?

Seems to me a contradiction. Urushii made by hand. Metal made by machine.

Not to disparage anyone who likes it.

WHOA. That is a beautiful pen. Ruthenium seems to be the new rhodium/gold?

I have got myself one 1911 with ruthenium section. This must be heavy, then?!

If it was the price of a regular piccolo, I would order one immediately. At twice the price, no way! I'd rather have two regular ones...

Which reminds me, I need to order a decopod ;)

This is not what you buy a Nakaya for, is it? They must have been hard pressed to come up with something new.

I think of Nakaya and I think Urushi. That's why I buy Nakaya.

Jinhao 9019 "EF" nib running Birmingham Railroad Spike

It's certainly not what I would buy a Nakaya for. No clue why they took this path. Not to my taste.

Love what Nakaya does now--but am happy to see that they are pursuing different paths. i'm sure they will never abandon the core of their activities--but i applaud their efforts here. hopefully this will be available without the clip as well.....

A lot of these pens were originally commissioned by clients and Nakaya put them up for order.

The Neo Standard started as a request by a client for a pen like the desk pen but one that can be easily carried.

This 'White Tiger' (Byakko) pen was one that I commissioned as another example.

I already have 3 titanium pens and love the material. The Nakaya is a gorgeous pen. Titanium pens are expensive so this is just a matter of paying double the price of the Piccolo or not. I am not too sure about it yet :)

An expensive departure from the understated & beautiful urushi Piccolos that are available.

Looks more like an Italian creation.

I`d rather get two different Piccolos at that price

Just my 0.02 CAD.

Cheers:

Istvan

The White Tiger is something quite different from this titanium pen. Not that I would buy it, but it fits much better in my perception of a Nakaya.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
