Maybe problems with the leather covering?

Cross does this a lot. Pens I recall Cross discontinuing:
Pens of various finishes (un-popular)? On sale on their site.
Recently I saw their sale on the black C series.. does that mean the C series is going away?

My wife bought a Burgundy Croc fountain pen for me as a birthday present. I was (and still am) delighted with it. My only other Cross is an original Century in chrome which was FOUND in the street many years ago. That pen has performed like a dream and has been a real treasure.
The new Torero is just as good and, not only that, it is much more stunning in appearance. What the heck are Cross thinking of? The new model performs as well as it's more exotic and expensive gold-nibbed stablemates in my collection, yet it is a fraction of their price! A true gem amongst pens...but it would seem to be unappreciated by the Cross enthusiasts or pen lovers in general. How sad!
The good news is that my pen has unintentionally become a limited edition. I will settle for that.
Nevertheless the Torero's premature disappearance into history is regretful. SHAME ON YOU, CROSS!

I may be in a minority but I like the ATXs too - it's the bright chili, papaya, plum colours that I like, and guess what? Totally unavailable in Europe. For a pen to carry around that I need to write with no hesitation, not be expensive, and not get too dinged if it's loose in a handbag, the ATX is good value, but I can only get it in boring black or even more boring chrome. (Did Cross never ship the bright ATXs to Europe, or have they been discontinued?)

i bought a cross torero in the sale for £35, compared to the standard £105 price tag. my choice was between that, and the century II, but i figured the torero to be more of a bargain, so i figured i should go for it. it arrived with a beautifully smooth fine nib, in perfect condition. i have loved the pen ever since. finding out that the pen was to be discontinued made me even happier with my choice, as it was new when i bought it, and a really nice pen. very happy with my purchase
I know exactly what you mean and I totally agree. The Torero is a real beauty and it writes like a dream. And it looks like becoming a bit of a rarity, too. Lucky you getting one for such a bargain price.
What an excellent choice of pen. Let us fortunate owners enjoy to the full having such a gem!
