How can I disassemble the cap to swap out the parts?
Many thanks for any suggestions.

I believe I may have one of those out in the garage.

You don't need to dismantle the cap to pop the new insert in. Just take a pencil with a reasonably big eraser end, or perhaps a pen of an appropriate width, stick it in the barrel far enough to wedge it into the present insert, and twist/pull it out. It's a friction fit only, and is quite easy to remove.
Thats what I did.. worked like a charm & took about 15-20 seconds

And I should thank Speedy, too, for designing it so simply and easily for maintenance!

My TWSBI has just broken down, the cap cracked and only the screw-on metal piece stayed on the pen and the rest of the cap stayed in my hand.
Speedy sent me a new cap some time ago, because I had many cracks in the cap (thanks Speedy for your great service!), so I have the part that needs to be replaced.
The problem is that I don't have the tool I need to get the nut out so I would like to ask: Do you know of any other way how to get the nut out without a nut driver?
