I wanted to order one but couldn't work out how to change the paper that comes inside; I wanted lined paper. Is that not something one can change at the time of purchase?

Normally no since it automatically comes with (1) plain notebook, but I'll make an exception. Please purchase it and add a comment to your order that you want to sub for lined paper.

Thanks.

The journals are soft but not sloppy and definitely not stiff. Even the large size holds its shape pretty nice in my opinion.

Hi Andrew, just sent an order for 2 large journals in brown, one for me and the other for a Christmas gift. They look beautiful. Waiting to see them in person.

Took the plunge and decided to give it a go - got a large one in black (I'd have gotten the extra-large if you'd had it! As much as I like portable books, I'm finding increasingly that I use my larger ones more often than the smaller ones  Go figure) plus a grid paper refill.

I agree with subbes that it'd be nice to have the option of changing the included blank book to the style of one's choosing - I think from the consumer angle it's more appealing if you can customize it from the very start. I would've gone with either grid paper or the drawing paper, myself.

Mine just arrived; however I'm out of town until next week so I won't be able to look at it until the 12th or so. When I get back, I'll pop up some pictures etc on the review board.

BTW I would have greatly appreciated getting a shipping notification, as i didn't hear anything after getting my receipt until my husband e-mailed me to say an envelope had arrived. Shipping notifications might be something to think about for future implementation.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
