aaaaah, one of my fav reds! thx for the review!

i see a lot of feathering on that paper. i'm surprised, it seems like good paper(?). is it that bad? could it be my screen?

I also see alot of feathering in the scan. Awhile ago I tested Syrah on Rhodia paper with a wet writing Visconti stub nib, with that combination I got a very noticable purple tint and no feathering.

Thanks for the review.

I got a sample of this and immediately filled up a new medium preppy's converter with Syrah.

A number of folk on FPN spoke highly of it, so naturally I was curious.

I found it feathered a fair bit - had a great deal of show through and wasn't the shade I was hoping for.

what shocked me is that I can write on newsprint with it - it feathers, but it doesn't soak. Still, it's been in my preppie for almost three months now - I'm going to have to write someone a letter on GOOD paper to get rid of it

a LONG letter.

I found Noodler's Burgundy closer to the colour I like

It too shows through and feathers, but I like the look so much, I keep it away from recycled paper.

I find myself very closely aligned with your position.

The feathering was minimal that paper just seemed to react to the ink oddly, over all it was just not the color I was looking for. Glad I tried it, but very glad I didn't buy it. I have not been so impressed with Diamine inks in general, though, Pumpkin is one I would really consider purchasing. I do like Noodler's Burgundy better as a wine color.

Hello RSQ,

Love your review form; however, I'd think twice about displaying your full signature in this day and age. ;)

I have 30ml of this stuff en route from Nordic Pens- I can't wait to try it out. :puddle: Of course, from what I've read here; it looks like I'll have to hunt down a bottle of Noodler's Burgundy as well.

All the best,

Sean :)

Thank you for your concern. I thought about not and decided it was worth it for the review.

Great review! It reminded me of this long-neglected colour in my collection. I'll have to dig it out and fill a pen or two with it again.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
