Well I figured while I'm waiting for my Herbin Inks, why not get my fingers into another three Edelstein colors (Topaz and Jade are next):

I would like to like that ink. Maybe I need to get bright desk lamps.

Mr. Smith, Try an OTT Lite, the bulbs are true color bulbs, and they last for quite a while. I have one at my desk at work, one at my desk at home, and one by the sofa at home. They are wonderful for reading, writing, and crafting. They go on sale often at JoAnn's, Michael's, and Hobby Lobby. I got all of mine on sale, or else I would not have bought them (they average $60-70 per lamp).

Finally, a place where being obsessed with pens and paper is the norm...

Inasmuch as much of my writing is for my eyes to read (at the time and later), I'll do that! My students get Yama Budo, but I have 73 inks other than Yama Budo.

Sometimes I feel like a drug addict. What was bright enough for me last week is too everyday for me this week. I get a blast of red-brown from Noodler's Beaver, and Noodler's Walnut isn't enough of a rush for me. I think that Nathan needs to make a "Noodler's Methadone" to get me back to accepting everyday inks, like Walnut.

First comes the intervention, then the Noodler's Methadone. Maybe FPN could arrange a group discount.

I blame the Goulet Ink Drop for getting hooked. Small amounts, nearly free, what could possibly go wrong? I'd go for the Noodler's Cold Turkey, but it's practically invisible on beige paper.

Yes as Goldspot Pens states it perfectly...

Several ways a drug addiction is similar to a pen addiction:

"Users" have a stock (or stash) of ink refills to fill up whenever they go empty.

When the ink runs out, the user gets into a frantic rush about finding refills and often has to hunt around town for a "dealer" and sometimes has to go online to find the specific compatible replacements.

Yes, pen shops are commonly referred to as "dealers."

There is a syringe involved. Some fountain pen users prefer to refill ink cartridges by using a blunt syringe and bottled ink.

So, if you or someone you know suffers from pen addiction. Please call us. :-P

Stevesurf, does Edelstein Sapphire fade a bit over time, rather like Pelikan Royal Blue, or does it stay the same color as upon initial drying? It's a lovely vibrant blue.

That's it! Nathan's master plan!

I think he'll be filthy stinking rich..

So where do I get some?

Just a sample to start (the Noodler's) I have the Edelstien Sapphire, and it only looks OK in one pen, the rest it just comes out as a plain dull blue, especially compared to Parker Penman Sapphire!

"""especially compared to Parker Penman Sapphire!"""

Comparing apples and pineapples again. -_-

Soft ink vs too saturated for it's era.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
