I don't think this rotated...so here's the text:

Intro: I snapped up this creamy hite Pelikan M205 from 777 mostly for the broad stub and because it was a piston filler. But when it arrived today, I found out I love this pen!

Appearence: Very basic white, which is not the color I would have picked...but it looks minimalist and clean (8)...edit to add: I'm attending med school next fall and I just found out doctors used to carry white pens...so I guess white is fitting...I just feel I'll stain it.

Construction: Seems okay. Not perfect, but excellent to use as a workhorse as no fear of hurting it (8)

Weight: Light!! SO light. Balance is better unposted and the pen fits nicely into my small hands (9)

Nib: This is why I bought this pen. It is a broad stub by 777 that is buttery smooth on even printer paper. Just a delight to use (10)!!

Filling: Piston, perfect! (10)

Cost: I paid $100 with the nib grind....I'd say it was an excellent value! I plan to use it everyday taking notes (10)

Nice review and I like how the noodler's ink you used produced all that shading :D

As time goes on and things are moving into the electronic medical record, you may start your residency without having to write your daily progress notes/consultations. Instead you will be staring at a keyboard, typing your orders and notes into the system (pros and cons there). However, it's still nice to have a cool fp to sign things when you can ...and get the "oooo....ahhh" kind of comment from patients and colleagues alike

For now, enjoy using the fp to take notes.

Great review- I may need to pick up a pelikan :headsmack:

I have a fine nib tuned by 777 pen repair and it puts a smile on my face every time I write with it! :cloud9:

BTW: what is that gorgeous ink?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
