Mb Season's Greetings 2007

I am always on the lookout for gorgeous, deep, crimson coloured ink. I bought one of these SG 2007 bottled from the MB boutique in Toronto and fell instantly in love with it. I went straight back to the store and bought the last four bottles.

The ink behaves perfectly - low shadowing, no bleed through, no feathering, good lubrication, and delicious shading.

Shading sample on thick, absorbent paper:http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/af97/Saskia_Madding/Ink%20reviews/Montblanc/DSC08582.jpg

The ink is even better on Clairefontaine paper.

Two factors that make this ink a complete winner? It smells deliciously of vanilla, AND it has a golden shimmer where is pools, very similar to Herbin's 1670.

Thanks for posting that review. You are lucky to have found so many SG-2007 bottles remaining. That color and their Je t'aîme "Love Letter" inks are spectacular. You captured and displayed its magnificence very well in your review. :notworthy1:

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

I'm a sucker for red inks, and I'm glad I managed to find so many back up bottles. :) I've also managed to source another 4 bottles of Gandhi ink, though they won't be on their way to me for a while. I've really become enamored with Mont Blanc inks. I can't wait for the seasonal one this year. I hope they have one!

I hope so as well. Several have posted that MB is going to be releasing the Gandhi Saffron ink this summer. See post #29 here.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
