Noodler's: Black Swan In English Roses.

Here's another of the 4 samples I'd recently gotten from an FPN friend to try, Black Swan in English Roses.

As with the other 3 reviews I wrote yesterday, I stuck with the exact same pen/ nib/ paper each time to eliminate any discrepancies.

This is a beautiful ink, and I typically don't care much for reds when using to write letters, but this is one of those exceptions I can definitely live with...

Now for my wash-test, and with this I was completely surprised!

Most reds don't fair well with even water droplets, let alone a scalding HOT full pressure water rinse and complete paper soaking!

Not only did 90% or more of the red ink stay intact with that HOT blasting, it withstood swabbing with 92% Isopropyl, pure clear ammonia, and most interestingly of all is what happened when swabbed to the core with 100% pure Clorox bleach that I was sure would totally obliterate any trace of this ink!...

OK, so the red did get wiped out by a heavy swabbing/ soaking using pure Clorox bleach and letting it dry.

The thing is that even that beating left behind completely legible gray text despite all the red having been bleached out.

This ink isn't marketed as being bulletproof, at least I don't believe so, but after seeing this with my own eyes and having done the testing myself this to me is pretty darned close!

Not only a beautiful ink that shades nicely, it's a red that I could actually see myself writing letters with, and even labeling addresses on envelopes or packages without worry that the ink could be completely destroyed by the rain!

An awesome ink, now I can't wait to try is semi-twin or Black Swan in Australian Roses and compare the two side-by-side!

They flow across paper as a brush to canvas, transforming my thoughts into words and my words into art.

There is nothing else like it; the art of writing and the painting of words!”

Another super review! I'm going to order this one right away! I love the dark, almost black shading with this ink.

Thank you for the kind words.

I do try and keep my reviews simple, short, yet informative.

I'm very happy to hear that you like my work, keeps me coming back with more!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
