my bottle of midway blue has been delivered today, and i just fell in love with the color even more. i decided to write a review about this ink, and here it is.

i corrected the color as much as i can, but the color is still a bit brighter in real life.

Nice review! I've been wanting to try this one for a while now.

I love this ink, but I had some problems of bleeding through.

Thanks for the review. I'd love to see how this compares to Noodler's Eel Blue.

I've been after a bright blue that is at least water resistant (Eel Blue isn't) and fast drying.

Looks like this one may fit the bill.

Thanks for the question. I'm also looking for a blue, at least water resistant , that is similar to Eel Blue. My only concern is that Midway Blue could have problems with feathering. This review was made on a Clairefontaine paper, which don't bleed or feather with any ink (even the worst feather ink), as we know.

I did a quick comparison of Blue Eel and Midway (amongst others) a short while ago.

I haven't tested the water resistance, but I might be able to do that if you are interested.

for water resistance, it's a 7/10. some of the color washes off, but the rest is still legible. that review was made on standard copy paper, and the clairefontaine test was not posted.

Bronze,

Great comparative review. I always wanted to compare those popular blue inks.

Ticoun,

Thanks for the review and explanations. You help me a lot. No doubt, Midway Blue will be one of my next inks.

Regards,

Fabricio

I like this ink, and it was the first Vmail color I bought. It's water resistance seems good to me. I bought my bottle early last year and I haven't had a feathering issue with, except on very cheap copy paper. It did; however, bleed through on a moleskine notebook I was using at the time.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
