A great Parker 51 Aero with a bold wet nib

I come across fewer Forest Green Parker 51's than most of the other colors, but in the past couple weeks I've found two. It's a neat shade, for sure, and this is one sharp looking pen.

This 51 has been totally disassembled, cleaned, and put back together, with all parts tested for functionality. It's in excellent overall condition with only minor signs of use. The barrel and hood have been polished to a fabulous shine, and the date code is readable: "Made in USA 51" (no dots, indicating Q4 1951 production). The cap is lustraloy- when it came to me the frosting was blotchy and uneven, so I polished it a bit to even it out and its a bit shinier than most, though not quite 51 Special shiny. No dings or dents at all. There are two caveats I'd mention: there's a tiny mark on the back lip of the clip ring (almost unnoticeable) and one very narrow scratch on the barrel that wouldn't quite buff out. Overall it looks great, as you can see from the photos.

The filler unit functions perfectly and draws up ink efficiently. The last 51 I sold had a broad nib, and though this one looks like more of a medium it's very wet, laying down a nice bold line that I'd describe as "almost broad" (see writing sample). It's smooth as silk on nice paper like Rhodia, and gives just a bit of feedback on textured paper like the 100% cotton stuff I use for letters. Very nice! A beautiful and functional Parker 51 for your consideration. $90 shipped within the US, $98 Overseas. Paypal preferred. PM me here or email through my profile to claim it. You'll be glad you did. Thanks for looking!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
