Wtt: One Red Wing Sung 322 Celluloid

Recommended Posts

This NOS Red Wing Sung 322 fountain pen is currently sitting on my desk next to my computer. I want to trade this with someone for a pen that is better, maybe one that is new, used, or vintage.

If we make a trade I will write up a review of whatever pen you send me and post it here on FPN. So, if you have something better than a wing sung 322 to trade, PM me with the details.

Hope to trade with you soon!

-Jonathan

PS - I'm going to make a continuous chain of 'up trades' until I get a Green Pelikan M1000, which is my grail pen. Unfortunately, I cannot afford said pen right now. But, I feel this is an entertaining way of possibly obtaining it that we can all enjoy. :) I'm curious to see how many trades it takes to get to the M1000.

I was baffled by some of the trades that the one red paperclip guy got. Hopefully you get some of the same. Sad I didn't think of this ;)

Yeah, I loved that "one red paperclip" blog and thought it was an ingenious idea. I thought I might try to do the same here, except I'd put a fountain pen enthusiast spin on it by reviewing each of the pens that I got and providing writing samples :)

For those who are curious, this is what I'm offering. . .

Jon, I just need your mailing address and I'll get this on its way.

I'll be watching with interest to see where this journey leads, and looking forward to the reviews too!

Awesome! I can hardly wait to review this pen. Another reason I think this experiment is going to be fun is that I will get some exposure to pens I had never even heard of along the way.

For example, the only eyedropper pen I've ever used is the one that comes with Noodler's ink (a platinum preppy). So, it will be fun to see how this pen stacks up against it.

Brillant idea. I'll be following your progress as I have a couple of pens I would consider trading depending on what you are offering.

monochromejournal,

Cool. It will be great to have you along with us on this journey. By the way, in case you missed it, the main post is here: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?/topic/188488-one-red-fountain-pen/page__gopid__1904067#entry1904067

That one main post is going to aggregate all of the reviews and trades that take place. There is also a neat poll I posted. :)

Have you reviewed the Wing Sung?

I have not. But, luckily, I do have more of them that I use personally, so I should take the time to review one of them just for completeness. :)

Hi! You might want to take a look at the main thread here on FPN: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?/topic/188488-one-red-fountain-pen/page__p__1903771__fromsearch__1#entry1903771

This thread was just the one for the first trade. All of the trades and reviews will be separate threads. But that link above is for the main thread that will chronologically keep track of all of them. :)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
