Noodler's, Too Busy To Supply The Uk?

I don't know why Nathan claims something else.

*Has* Nathan made such claims? In this thread, there are some who have suggested this as a possible reason, but I haven't seen (in this thread) anyone saying that Nathan has actually *given* this as a reason for not exporting to the EU.

You are right. I don't really know what Nathan thinks himself. He also made two inks for the German market in the past years, but I don't know how the current supply status is for Germany.

Ha! A place to unload those "why in the world did I think I wanted this" Noodler's colors! [Goes off to investigate the cost of postage to the UK before I go making any offers.]

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

The long and short of it is: yes, Nathan is a very very very busy man. He is literally a one-man show.

When the pens came out a few months ago, he was very busy trying to keep up with the demand (they ended up being much more popular than I think anyone expected, ESPECIALLY the flex pens). Meanwhile, the ink started becoming out of stock.

Now he's busy working on the ink, and the pens are now out of stock. Literally, though, even as he's making the ink, it's getting snatched up by retailers and the demand is simply exceeding the supply. And I honestly don't think the UK is getting singled out - many US retailers are not able to get the supply of ink/pens that they would like. I do think he'll catch up in time though, given the crazy long hours he's been working.

What can I say? Noodler's is awesome, both the inks and the pens. It is unfortunate that it cannot be mass-produced in higher quantities, but then that would be changing everything about the way Nathan runs his business, which would be changing who he is, which I don't see happening (nor would want to!).

One thing I might suggest is to round up several people to split the cost of shipping a large international order, if a US retailer has the Noodler's ink/pens that you want. I know shipping costs are burdensome, but if you can place a large order and split it among friends, that may help keep the cost down, I don't know.

An enormously helpful and well-informed post, Mrs. Goulet!

Thank you.

I think there's nothing more to say on the subject. If you want to discuss import issues that are not specific to Noodler's alone - take it to Chatter, please.

p.s. 79spitfire: I'll spare you the drool attack from Ming. Really, it's just too cruel for words.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
