That's an incredible haul. Think I'd probably be saving for about 20 years or more to be able to purchase that little lot!

this is just amazing :notworthy1:

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Whoa! Rock on, Ricky!

I have one request, please. The Nakaya with the music nib -- would you mind bringing it inked to the Post-LAPS Pen Posse on Saturday? I would love to try that nib!

Hey, does this mean you have all the Buddhist Sutra Pilots? (That's what I'm looking at, right?)

I think I have most of them except the special one made for a certain Buddhist organization. Stan is holding onto that pen.

Okay, some guesses (mostly incorrect no doubt.):

Top tray: Two Namiki/Pilot Sterling silvers, likely Hawk and Dragon. The four-leaf clover is a Platinum. The next two stump me. I think the last three are Nakayas.

Bottom tray: Omas, followed by three Montegrappas, can't get the red snakeskin pen, then two Wahls and two LeBoeufs.

That's my final answer.

So which three nibs did you choose for your Neo Standard trio? And I want to know more about the two sterling pens...

Not bad Strang.

Here the answers

Top picture from left to right

1) Pilot Artcraft Silvern-Crane

This is the 1970's vintage pen. The pen has a flat clip rather than the ball clip the new Silverns.

2) Pilot Artcraft Silver-Chrysanthemum

Another pen in the above series.

3) Platinum Shamrock Pocket Pen

A rather unremarkable pen that I'm not really a fan of. However, inside this pen is a working squeeze converter that fits Platinum pocket pens. :bunny01:

4)Ryo Japanese ED pen with Hiramaki-e cranes

5) SSS celluloid Japanese ED

The barrel seal is bad but the pen has never seen ink. It came with the box and original ¥30 sticker

6) Nakaya Neostandard-Kikyo with Nakaya Flexible fine nib

7) Nakaya Neostandard-Polished shu with Nakaya music nib

8) Nakaya Neostandard-Midori with UEF nib

2nd picture from left to right

1) 1970's Pilot Custom-White stripe

2) 1970's Pilot Custom-Crosshatch and Diagonal

3) 1970's Pilot Custom-Pine Tree

4) 1970's Pilot Custom-Fabric (Kimono)

5) 1970's Pilot Custom-Hannya Sutra Sterling silver

6) 1970's Pilot Custom-Hannya Sutra Black Hiramaki-e

3rd picture from left to right

1) 1936 Omas Lucens with fretted cap band

2) 1940 Aurora Selene

3) 1942 Montegrappa Extra with twist filler

4) 1930's???? Ancora

5) 1950's Soennecken Extra 222 in red rose lizard pattern

6) 2nd gen. Wahl Doric plunger fill in green lined celluloid

7) 2nd gen. Wahl Doric plunger fill in blue lined celluloid

8) Le Boeuf ring top in Tiger Eye celluloid sleeve filler.

9) Le Boeuf #4 lever filler in red pearl celluloid

They must have charged you for excess baggage on your way home. Congrats. "Oh, which do I try first!"

What else do we have in life if not to help each other?

Oh man, Ricky. Am I now going to have to compete with you for LeBoeufs?

If I hadn't bought my #75 in black and white swirl, I was considering that red one.

Regards, greg

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

Obviously a man who signed his name with a fleam, once or twice in the past.

Quite a haul, there!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
