Noodler's Creaper Flex Pen (Video)

For $14 how can you go wrong? This is what most friends said.

So I got it. First impression was that the plastic reminded some cheap indian eyedroppers that got so time ago.

Hey, nobody said that the pen is not cheap...

Piston filler (nice). Ring next to the nib, which could (would?) corrode eventually. Why? Sorry Viv, your friend is a traitor :))

Does it flex? First reports on Pentrace were conflicting. The reviews here showed that the pen is capable of producing decent line variation.

The verdict - it is semiflex but much better than other modern pens. I find it rather pleasing despite the need for some force.

The flow is very good (tried Aurora Black and PR Midnight Blue). Too good some times (see the video).

The design of the nib is rather innovative (what else would one expect from Nathan ;)) Apparently it "hides" the end of the slit in the section, which should reduce the stress concentration and the eventual fatigue crack. I like it.

To the point... Here is the video.

:puddle: Your handwriting is just lovely. My Noodler's flex pen seems to have trouble keeping up with the flow. I've only tried Noodler's Black Swan in it, so I'm holding judgement until I try some different inks in it.

I too am in awe of your handwriting. Thanks for the review! I'm really excited about getting one when the next wave hits.

Gotta say that watching you write upside-down to the camera is really disorienting.

Physicsgirl - thank you. I think that you may need to wash it (water+ a drop of handwashing liquid) unless there is some issue with the feed. You are a physics girl so take it off and use a thin brass sheet, or a guitar string or a thin velum paper and clean the channels.

Mr Wote - thanks for the compliment. As for the upside down. It was right on my iphone but when I tried to upload directly it changed the aspect ratio. When I converted it with an el-cheapo converter it flipped it. Unless you can help me to rotate it, you will have to rotate you screen to enjoy it more :)¨

BTW compliments for the sale service of IsellPens.com which has been providing pens with reasonable cost over the years.

Nice video! And, it somehow makes sense, since we all know the world is upside down.

Best,

Mars

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
