Sheaffer Skrip Green Ink Review

Recommended Posts

I haven't seen many reviews of Skrip Green so I thought I would take it upon myself to provide one. I used two types of paper, standard 20lb. copy paper and Rhodia ruled paper. For larger versions of the images, please visit my blog here One thing to consider, on my monitor this ink is showing up darker than it is in real life. Also, the scan of the 20lb. copy paper isn't really showing the feathering much, but there is a considerable amount. It shows up much better on the larger version on my blog.

On 20lb. copy paper:

Questions and comments welcome! :)

Sheaffer green is an intriguing color. I've only used a couple of cartridges of it over the years, but your review seems to represent it well. Thanks for the reminder about a color that I should grab a bottle of.

I don't use a lot of green except at Christmas and a bit at Easter. But, I've been tempted to buy this green, partly because I think, like Lamy, Sheaffer makes a very high quality ink and also because it is one with which I would probably share samples.

Thanks for the review.

Greetings Derek,

Like many other inks... I have a bottle of Sheaffer Green, (Slovenia), and the color does intrigue me as it leans heavily towards my favorite color: aqua. Nice review Derek, thanks for the reminder.

All the best,

Sean :)

You're welcome for the review. :) It was my pleasure. I'll have another green ink review on the way... Noodler's Green Marine, and also a blue (Sheaffer Skrip Turquoise).

Thank you for the review!

I'm a fountainpen lover from China. I can't find skirp green ink here. So I want to ask does 4001 green ink looks like skirp green? Thank you!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
