Montblanc Large Leather Conference Folder

Pen Nut

Recommended Posts

Large leather Montblanc conference folder. UK size is A4 which, I think, is known as ‘legal’ in the US.

Lovely unused/unmarked condition with complete full pad of Montblanc paper. The pad cover has a large Montblanc logo embossed on it which has not shown up well in the picture.

The original Leather Service Guide & Leather Collection fob are included as are the dust bag and outer box.

The large pen loops in the folder will accommodate a 149 with ease.

The only minus in my view is the small corporate embossing on the front of the folder but, to be fair, this is not very noticeable.

Price wise is £115/$178 .P&P will be around £6 in the UK but will get a quote for any other interested parties. Paypal if possible.

As I understand it, A4 = 8.27 x 11.69 inches which is slightly larger than US letter size 8.5 x 11.0 inches. Hence, I do not believe US legal size will fit.

What is the embossed emblem at the top of the front cover?

When checking the Montblanc shop catalogue the indent no of this item is 05523 as displayed on the box. The refill is listed as A4 with no mention of 'legal' so you may be correct in this. I must be getting confused but I am sure someone once told me that A4 = US legal.

The embossed emblem reads : Gupman Hotels.

A4 folders are not suited for North American letter and legal pads of paper. A4 is narrower than "letter size" but much shorter than "legal size". See the Montblanc refills web site for stunning-expensive pads of unlined A4 paper.

And the hotel is "Guoman", not "Gupman".

What is the history of this item?

Does Guoman give this item to valued employees/executives?

Not that sure to be honest. If they are given out to employees they must really value them. My boss once gave me a box of Montblanc refills and one of them was missing !!

I have one of the MB refill pads that would probably fit this holder, the pad has the number 54141 embossed in the top left hand corner of the back, and measures 8 1/2" by 11 3/4". Is this any help?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
