Again, I'm just doing this for fun and to occupy my time, nothing too technical or advanced. If it helps anyone, awesome... if not, tell me to quit and I might. Maybe. B)

Also, if you have any suggestions or something you'd like to see included, let me know. I'm just trying to keep this casual and fun for myself. I don't want to stress over an ink review, I've got enough going on! Just so you know, my resources are somewhat limited right now. I've got two pens, four nibs, and six "real" inks. As I spend more of my husband's hard earned money on this stuff, I'll be more thorough with comparisons and the like.

Yeah, what's with the "blue"? It has significantly more green than blue in it, both visually, and as measured in my graphics software from your scan. It's a fun ink for a change of pace, whatever you call it. Thanks for the mini review.

Now that I look at it up there, it totally reminds me of the color the Miami Dolphins use...

Coincidentally, that is who "we" play Sunday... *cough* WHODEY! *cough*

You're right, it's very teal; but it's the color of blue suede shoes that were popular in the 1950s, when Elvis had a hit single by the same name.

My Blue Suede isn't green, it's teal. Could it be because it's cartridges? This is what it looks like.

Let there be light. Then let there be a cat, a cocktail, and a good book.

I agree that it is teal wholeheartedly, I just think the mention of "blue" in the name is a bit misleading. It looks more green to me than blue. It may just be me.

Also, I looked up some pictures of blue suede shoes to see if that was the reason behind the name. I wasn't even a twinkle in my daddy's eye at the time, so I had no clue. In all of the pictures I saw, the shoes looked much more blue than what the ink seems to me. JMHO.

Regardless, I love the color, and that's really what matters!

From what I can tell, this looks much more blue than what mine does. As for an explanation, I certainly am not experienced enough to speculate.

i never saw a varsity disposable with PR ink... that might be your answer to why a different shade. you probably had a bit of the old ink in the feed/system etc, when tried to refill (if that was the case)...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
