Noodler's Ellis Island Blue-black

I have been thinking about reviewing an ink and this one made sense to me.

Nice review! I also like blue-blacks that change colour moods when they dry out on paper. Especially from a "neutral" (?) blue-black to more of a blue blue-black. Sort of like Lamy's bottled ink. As you say, very subtle. Only trouble is (for me) that they only come from FPH which costs a lot of shipping (if not taxes as well). But -- in regard to service -- an excellent company.

To me it looks like old USA Sheaffer BB (BUT, I'm not sure if I had REALLY messed up Sheaffer BB bottles)

This is one of my 2 go to blacks. Fast drying. Bulletproof. This color or Legal Lapis is a must for professional use.

I, like you, have grown to love Ellis Island. It is one of my favorite inks. The color somewhat amazes me because of all the color variations there are when you look at it up close; especially under a loupe. Great Ink!!

Hmm. If my monitor isn't playing tricks on me, this really resembles the colour of a good iron gall. (Assuming, of course, that you consider it possible for an iron gall to be good. I do but some people don't)

I imagine iron gall was likely used at Ellis Island, so it would seem to me the resemblance is intentional.
