Quick Review: Kaweco Purple Ink Cartridges

Recommended Posts

I have a Kaweco Sport rollerball and I like it, so when I saw that Jetpens was stocking 6-count packs of Kaweco ink, I splurged and got one each of purple, brown and blue-black. Kaweco does NOT print color names on the boxes, so I am not sure what the official name for each color is.

In this quick review, I sampled the purple one. It's a REALLY good ink and now I will be seriously jonesing for Kaweco ink in bottle form! It performed really well, even on the cheap, see-through generic paper I use for jotting notes AND shows some basic water resistance to standing water. I highly recommend this ink!!!

Wow, that's a really nice color! Thanks so much for posting this. Oddly though I just went to the jetpens site & looked, & there is nothing listed in the Kaweco cartridge section. :hmm1:

To me, it resembles MB Violet in the scan.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Me likes!

I wish this were sold in bottles and then I would probably buy some. Does anyone know of a noodlers or Diamine ink that looks like this?

Thanks,

Need a pen repaired or a nib re-ground? I'd love to help you out.

Just got this one last week and must admit I love it in an odd way. The colour is not my favourite as such but it has a very retro and nostalgic touch to it, a bit faded and old-fashioned. It reminds me of being an eight year old playing with my parents stationery. I have so far only used it in a Kaweco Student - impeccable flow.

Thanks for the review. I was wondering about the Kaweco inks. The blue cartridge that came with my Kaweco Sport is pretty good, so I was curious if the other colors were any good. Sounds like they may be worth considering.

I'd 2nd the positive comments re: this ink. Based on the initial review, I picked up a bunch of the Kaweco carts (from Jetpens--no connex) and I ended up liking this color best of all. That it's pretty water-resistant is icing on the cake. (Sure would be nice to have it available in a bottle . . . .)

That looks like a nice color indeed! (I think Kaweco calls it Aubergine or something). Looks a bit lighter than Pelikan Violet to me (at least in the scan).

It's really a shame that Kaweco doesn't sell ink in bottles, more so since I find their cartridges quite expensive (even in Germany).

I've loved every kaweco cart I've ever used...I really do hope they start bottling it! I'd like to get a good half gallon each of purple and sepia.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
