I'd Like To See A Counterfeit Pilot Vp

I like Pilot VPs, but I also don't like how expensive they are. I would really want to see a fake but functional Pilot VP up for sale, especially one with the clip on the wrong side. I would buy one if it was cheaper than the normal one.

That is all.

So what you are saying is that you would knowingly support the counterfeit trade...

May condemnation rain down on you (and it wont be long before it does).

Comdemnation indeed! I wouldn't support fake anything let alone a fake of a pen that isn't really all that expensive in the grand scheme of things. *summons hounds o' doom*

Parse Error, are you saying that you'd like to find an inexpensive pen which works similarly to the VP sold under its own brand?

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

:yikes:

Please don't get a fake...

If you like VPs so much, you can save up for one, and when you're finally able to purchase it, you'll like it even more.

Pilot Custom, Platinum 3776, Sailor Profit are copies of Mont Blanc. And I like them...

Platinum, actually, copied the Capless--the Knock-18 was called. And I would love to have one...

Where do you draw the red line?

Cheers,

yeah i'd like to see one. as is stated above, there's a ton of rip off 149s--they're just marketed honestly.

Where do you draw the red line?

At the word "counterfeit"

From the Merriam-Webster:

1 : made in imitation of something else with intent to deceive

Intentions are difficult to judge.

Are Pilot, Platinum, Sailor,... trying to deceive potential Mont Blanc buyers?

I do not know the answer.

Don't seek counterfeit just becasue you can't afford a genuine.

Look for a genuine that you can afford.

Yeah, I just got a decimo for $45 and then a fancy stub or italic nib unit for $25. Just keep your eyes open. Somebody will want to get rid of one, and then you can make an offer.

A VP is definitely worth its price, I just think another company could take on the click-retractable fountain pen. Or does Pilot own every patent variation possible?

Congrats!

I've just picked up new VP(Blue/Rhodium/Fine) from ISellPens.com for $119

which included 2 free bottles of Noodler's ink.

Expensive? You can find them for $125-$150 if that is expensive then about 75% of all pens out there are "expensive" to you. Clip on the wrong side? You mean like the clip is on the left side instead of the right side? Oh wait, just rotate the pen 180 degrees! :roflmho:

I use a fountain pen because one ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and, if it were possible, to write a few reasonable words with a fountain pen.

Did you ever stop and think maybe the person does not have the same budget you do for pens? Very condescending attitude on your part, not very nice.

I agree. $125-150 is a very substantial sum of money to me and I've only bought a handful of pens over the years for that kind of money. Most of the pens I buy are in the $40-80 range (and I still get grief from SWMBO!) ;)

But that doesn't mean I condone counterfeiting.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
