Do all Le Man 100 nibs flex as much as the one you have?

 

What ink and nib size do you have?

the first generation man 100 with the hole nib have flex. Mine is a fine nib.

Thank you for your nice review. I also like le man 100 series. I am very interested in the combination of the first generation nib and the bryar wood. Is the wood coated by lacquer ? How about aging?

I honestely don't know if the wood is coated by lacquer.My guess would be not because otherwise you would feel the lacquer coating. Properly taken of care these woodens pen will last and age very well.

I don't own any of these, but used to work with a guy who bought most of the different wood models when they first came out.

All the wood seems to be uncoated. An ink accident permanently stained the barrel of one of his pens.

Flex, did you say flex? My LeMan 100 medium is stiff as a nail. Love the pen though.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
