Not too sure if I'm the first to get the TWSBI Pen from the Presale but I'm as excited as a school boy right now !!

I've decided to leave the reviews to the experts (adding the suspense factor for those out there still waiting for it) but I will include some pictures for everyone to enjoy until then !

Here goes :

Hi Hari,

Great! so this spanner will work for the Pelikan M1000 and M800 fillers too, so we have a nice readymade tool for the job now.

Best,

hari

That's a very nice package for such a low price pen. Thanks for the pictures.

Hi Leo,

Mine has still to be shipped :(

Yours is a medium nib, isn't it?

Could you post a small writing sample and let us know how it handles?

Thanks,

Bert

That's class the wrench, the silicon grease...a good looking pen. I'd not thought of buying a demonstrator before. Now, yes.

Now yes, with a semi-flex nib...that is the next step....even for extra.

It was great to ask the knowledgeable customers what do you want, how can we do this well.

I am not sure if they made a pen to price or a pen, and then made a price; there being a huge difference. I'd suspect the latter.

The understated frill on the nib matches the pen. IMO

I don't remember was this a screw out nib, so that one could put on thinner or wider nibs?

Or seeing it disassembles well, that one could buy thicker, thinner and more or semi-flexible nibs.

That ink bottle looked good too.

uhm, could someone give us a quick lesson on what the spanner and silicone grease are for? thanks! ;)

THat's very thoughtful of TWSBI actually, allows one to service the pen DIY when the piston becomes stiff down the line.

Wow! Can't wait to get my two now! A pen with its own toolkit - that's pretty cool.

Apotheosis - I'm trying to think of something smart to say about the 7mm wench but the fabulous pics of the pen just left me drooling :puddle:

Like your video too. Very helpful.

Hi Bert,

As soon as I stop taking pictures, I'll ink it and post a writing sample here soon.

Dont worry - I'm sure yours is on its way - mine arrived first probably due to me beling closer to Taiwan.

Refer to his thread : It's used to lubricate the piston

I've just bookmarked the video as it is really helpful. It's from Mr Speedy (I think). I found it through a quick Google search.

I'm impressed. I hadn't been following the TWSBI threads much, and I didn't realize what an outstanding package they were putting together. When I get one of these, I hope I don't wear it out by compulsively disassembling and reassembling it.

Some of the "prestige" pen makers should take a look at what TWSBI is doing. They could learn a few things.

Thanks for posting the pictures and video. Where can we buy them and how much do they cost, and what are the nib options? Also, any word yet on how it writes?

Edit: I forgot to ask, but what is the size of the largest pens Speedy will offer in relation to the Pelikan Souveran series?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
