Twsbi Diamond Piston-Filling Pen Presale

Hello, many of you may have followed the threads in which an inexpensive piston-filling pen was designed with community input from all over the world on English and Chinese languag BBSes. See the thread on FPN here and the thread on the newer vacuum filler here (the vacuum filler is still a ways off, we have the piston filler ready though).

Anyways, after a long time in waiting (and one Red Dot Design award later), the decision has been made to offer the first 300 off of the production line to users of the FPN. These will be final production-ready pens from the TWSBI Pen company, a company with a long history of making pens.

Since you guys are writers, i'll skip to the important parts:

Pen Model: TWSBI Diamond 530

Pen Trim: The trim that will be available for this 300 piece run will be the clear demonstrator with chrome bits. Here's a picture of mine

Here's a picture of what the final packaging you will receive will look like:

The Nib: The nibs used are Schmidt steel nibs. I like mine. The sizes available here are EF/F/M. There are 10,000 nibs at the factory, so there aren't any limits on what nib you can choose. Also, as to the size, I would say that the nibs are "Western" sized as far as the widths of EF/F/M.

Here's what my nib looks like:

post-36420-127203733481.jpg

Price: The pens will be sold for $39.99 a piece, with $7.99 SHIPPING, regardless of # of pens ordered. YES, I WILL SHIP TO EUROPE/CANADA. Postage to Canada is $7.99, Europe is on a case-by-case basis.

Payment is through Paypal (cash or credit is ok).

Shipment/Logistics: The pens are expected in May/June. Due to a lack of a firm ship date, this thread will initially put people "in line" for a pen. When I have a ship date, I will send a Paypal invoice for the balance 2-3 weeks prior to shipping so that I can purchase the pens and get everything ready. I will email you when I ship the item, provide a tracking number, and you will receive the package after about 1 week from shipment.

To reserve your place in line, please post how many (and in what nib sizes) you would like. Also post/pm me your email address so I will be able to contact you for invoicing/shipment/etc ATTN: Mods, I hope this thread is within the rules! Please let me know by PM if I need to change anything or if this needs to be moved :)

I'm in. PM sent with details.

Take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly, and try another. But by all means, try something.

Ok, I am a bit surprised at how quickly the orders are coming in! I have to go to bed now, and I seriously worry that my PM Mailbox might become full overnight, so be aware that if my PM box becomes unavailable I will clear through all the backed up order stuff and clear messages so I can get more messages.

I plan to take one, and will send follow PM right after posting here.

Question: Will you ship to Japan?

I can ship to Japan, but Japan might be one of the countries having retail availability, i'll have to check

makhie, I'm sure this info is in the original thread, but that thread is very long. Can you give us the following info:

Pen's dimensions, including approximate weight.

Ink capacity

Warranty details, if any.

Thanks!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
