Fifth Avenue Desk Pen!?

Did I find the grail of my collection. The prototype Fifth Avenue desk pen never to see the light of day!! Could it be, a one-off production item for a high level executive at Eversharp!? I mean look at the picture, it's there, tangible...physical, heck I'm even writing with it today!!!

So did I find something rare, collectible, something every Eversharp aficionado should lust after!?

Nope!

So, what did I find? Well I found a CA Deskpen (one of the no-chain models) in black. I've always had some weird want for a desk pen that I can carry with me capped. I have a pretty good appreciation for the Fifth Avenue line of pens at this point and when this thing came up on the bay, I snatched it up. Luckily I had an extra Fifth Avenue section w/ nib and feed, and a nice new cap. It definitely fits the bill for what I wanted! It doesn't have a lever obviously, so when I need to fill the pen I just unscrew the section, dip it in some ink, and squeeze away on the sac. I might try to find a better solution at some point (someone mentioned a Parker "21" setup on it). Overall though its' a pretty neat little pen.

And no worries for the true Eversharp fans (myself included in that bunch). I have no intentions of selling it as a true product, in fact I don't see myself selling it at all! It's pretty sweet!

Here's one last picture of it capped.

Wow, your shirts must have way longer pockets than mine do... I can't even carry a Snorkel half the time, let alone something in the 8 inch range. Hmm, maybe a holster would be in order?

Anyway, I too like using a long pen. Pretty cool.

Tim

(still wondering how on earth you carry it)

The only sense that's common is nonsense...

I should have said I don't "carry" it in a pocket with me. However in my portfolios and such it fits pretty well. I'm still getting used to it though. A holster is a good idea! Although I fear I'd get some pretty messed up looks!

In the first pic, I though it had a prototype pocket clip also. :roflmho:

It was a delightful read.

Tom,

this looks really sweet! And if you fit a Parker 25 style filler to this pen then you have a fully functional conversation starter ;-)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
