I have had lots of people ask me about weights and measurements, so I thought it would be best to take some pics as well. Here its next to a Montblanc 149.

Very interesting, what would you describe the feel of the main material like?

to me it looks like it has a sort of soft/hard texture. not smooth, not rough, somewhere in between. kind of like a very slightly textured hardbound leather book. absolutely stunning. that's one i could dream of. and the texture just above the section/grip looks lovely.

That's a beautiful pen. I really like the size of the Visconti, big and manly. Time to break the piggy bank, again!

Watch_Art got it! Its really hard to explain, its very comfortable. It does not feel synthetic, if that makes sense.

It's a very tactile material that just feels great in the hands.

My turn to sit things out. Bronze colored furniture and lack of color leave me unmoved. Looking forward to more pens that will speak to me.

What sorts of prices are people getting them for?

So far I have seen an old review estimating a price of 350 Euros, and a couple of online shops selling them for 595 US$. I probably can't afford it at the moment but does anyone know a good European seller?

Has: Lamy Safari M, Lamy Studio Steel F, Lamy 2000 F, Ice Blue Pilot Capless M, Lamy AL-star, TWSBI 540

Wants: Pelikan M1000 or perhaps M800, Parker Duofold Centennial, Gold M for Studio, Lamy 2000 M, Visconti Homo Sapiens, some Kawecos and Rotrings

Bryant (no affiliation but his name is all over this thread) sells them at a much more competitive price than $595US. Email him for a quote and postage to Europe.

No affiliation and I have not ordered anything from him or www.pentime.net before but hear enough good things about him on FPN to know that's just a matter of time!

I'll be really shocked if Bryant isn't your best price. No affiliation other than sending him all my disposable income. :headsmack:

I will have to buy one

+1. Other than the price, this pen just does not appeal to me at all. I'm excited for everyone else, though. :bunny01:

Are you kidding? It's freakin' volcanic!

I am so getting one despite my general disdain of black-and-goldish colors.

This is one of those pens that I really want to like, but I just don't. The material sounds awesome, it has a fantastic palladium nib, the price is right... but I'm just not into the design. It doesn't speak to me aesthetically at all. :(

Well, I'm all over this. Got one on its way with an XF nib. I can't wait!!! :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

Please tell me that the bronze doesn't need to be polished on a regular basis!

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
