FS Montblanc Meisterstruck ballpoint

Here we have today a wonderful used, but loved,Montblanc Meisterstruck Ballpoint pen.

(I even reviewed it... I know, I can't help myself... I love writing about pens... :roflmho:)

This belonged to my friend's dad who had to be moved into assisted living I believe. Anyways, when they were organizing all his paperwork and cleaning his house and airplane hangar out (yeah! this guy had an airplane!) he grabbed a pen off the desk because he just needed one. He had it out today and I asked him where he got it (and he told me the story) and I told him what it was. He shrugged. So what?

I said, well, Mont Blanc are not cheap pens. I went in and looked on the internet real quick (we were at the mechanics shop where we all hang out in the afternoons drinking and enjoying ourselves with our beloved mechanic John) and pulled up some prices on Amazon and some other places. HOLY COW!! He says. FOR A PEN???

So of course he wants to sell it. He doesn't care about it in particular, and it has no sentimental value to him. It was just a pen he picked up off his dad's desk. Who knows what they threw away!? Oh well...

So here it is. For sale.

$150 or best offer. Seriously. And if I'm far off from a realistic price, let me know.

No box. No papers. Have no idea how old it is. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. It has a mont blanc refill from Office Depot he put in the other day, so it's good on ink for a while.

And here's a good thread I just saw about polishing these things nice and pretty.

and pulled out my 10X watchmakers loupes to see the number on the clip.

not that it's important, (from what i read here) but here it is.

In this pic you can see some of the wear on the tip of the clip. Some silver showing through.

You can see in this next photo very tiny engraving of GERMANY on clip ring. The other side has some sort of serial number. Is that the model? Would that tell me the year? Well, sort of. Montblanc website says they started doing that after 1991. So that tells us something of it's age.

And here you can see a very small nick in the resin opposite the clip on the cap. Not bad. Might actually be pretty old too b/c it's very smooth. I think if it were a fresh chip it would still have sort of rough edges. But what do I know.

Hm.

Good Morning!

And when I forget to write something, I really forget the important stuff.

Price includes shipping.

I'd prefer shipping CONUS and we can work out a better deal. I won't go AS low for international due to higher costs.

We can insure or not. Up to you...

I also plan to make a small wooden box to ship it in for international orders so it doesn't get damaged.

Conus, you get PVC.

I know it's not that old, and it's not super fancy shmancy, but it is a pretty nice pen and I'd like to be cautious with it.

I think I've covered everything...

Give me your offers!!!

Thanks.

Size is the difference, you have the smaller Classique version, both take the same refill though.

also, to sweeten the deal, you may select any of my prints (not the HUGE ones, they're pretty expensive) to take with your new montblanc pen.

just click on the coffee cup postcard on the bottom of my posts... if you pick a print, it will be sent in a large cardboard usps tube, with the pen in pvc taped to inside of larger cardboard tube so it doesn't float around.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
