Thank you for the nice review. The color looks lovely. Waterman inks are a joy to use, I agree.

May you have pens you enjoy, with plenty of paper and ink. :)

Please use only my FPN name "Gran" in your posts. Thanks very much!

I also use that color and I like it. Anyway, in the picture it looks darker than it really is.

And it gets even lighter when it dries some weeks. I've been checking some notes from a few months ago and the color is much ligther.

I don't know if that happens with other blue colors

A nice review of my favorite ink. I only use Waterman inks of various colors in my vintage Pelikans. They are easy to flush and the flow is generous.

I was also thinking about purchasing this ink. How does it hold up after contact with water?

Daily writers - Montblanc 146sp, Montegrappa Extra 1930

Reluctant to use - Montblanc WE Christie, Dumas, Fitzgerald, Verne, Collodi, 100 Year Anniversary Historical

WTB: MB Wilde, Proust; Pelikan 805; Parker Centennial

Florida blue is the same as the venerable washable blue - says so on the bottle - that schoolchildren have been using for decades. Washable blue is the only color that can be removed with the "effaceur." So I wouldn't count on it being very water resistant. In fact, if I had to bet, I would say it is the least water resistant ink of all :D

As I typed the above, I realized there must be a test here on FPN. Sure enough, here it is (don't you love FPN?). As expected, there is nothing left! :)

*SIGHS* if only it stayed as dark as does when the ink first hits the paper !

Still...it's a nice soft-ish kind of blue tho in my opinion..

I agree. It's a great blue when you're writing. Your picture -great shot BTW and nice calligraphy too-, reflects very well the real color.

Yes, I use this and Waterman blue-black regularly. In fact, they are currently my inks of choice!

I use both too. It's a weird ink the blue-black. It's not what I'd expect from a blue-black. It's actaully a teal ink in the paper I use. Nice color, but not blue-black.

Out of curiosity, can you tell me what pen is that in the photograph? Very distinguished looking indeed.

Ah, I was curious because I've seen different pictures of them but the shot that you took of that pen was stunningly beautiful and elegant. I didn't recognize it as the Falcon!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
