looks original thanks for sharing

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Wow, how did I ever miss this sumptuous color before? This is the closest sample I've seen to the "perfect" turquoise I see in my dreams.

I wonder about how close it is to Waterman South Seas or Caran d'Ache Caribbean Sea.

SSB is much more intense and more turquoise blue-green, while Cd'A's CS is much more a green-blue turquoise. The DM is much lighter, and almost like a turquoise in a watercolor.

I recently discovered Diablo Menthe (thanks to Ryan at Pear Tree Pens and his wonderful samples that wing their way downunder) and it has quickly become a favourite. It is very similar to Vert Reseda, in fact, if laid down with a fine but very wet pen (like a fine Parker) and left to dry without blotting, the Menthe will look very similar to the Reseda in a less wet pen. I wonder if the Menthe is a lightened version of the Reseda, or vice versa

I absolutely love the color in Okami's scan, but I've seen other shots that make Menthe out to be a bit lighter. Does it darken a little after sitting in the pen?

I find it simply too pale for me. I love the shade of light teal, but there is a real problem with readability. It would be great for highlighting (underlining and bubbles around text), but I can't imagine how to use it as a text ink color.

I bought a sample of it. I wrote about a paragraph and decided the same thing. It's a pretty color, but too pale to read easily.

I can attest to this the Reseda is indeed the heavier color version of the Menthe I have a tiny 20ml bottle (menthe) with me but I don't see the practicality of the ink (most of my pens are dry except for the PIlot custom Heritage 91) as on a dry pen it looks "invisible" to a certain point else its very vibrant also Reseda looks similar to Lamy turquoise

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
