Just had 5 boring minutes and did a couple of shots just for fun. Pens are Ki-dame and Fellowship pen. As background is a drawing of a canary date palm (Phoenix canariensis) and a fragment of Palm poem by Carlos Israel Nápoles. As paperweight on the Moleskine used is a Voanioala gerardii palm seed (a hughe and spectacular Madagascar palm. Ink used is Sailor Jentle black...

Thanks for your input. Yes, both are very nice pens to see and use, at this time I carry both of them in my pen pouch, and Ki-dame is like a caramel flan (yes, Ethernautrix did hit the right definition) ... I know she will be looking for an English translation for the poetry (ha ha... professional deformation, as we say here) ...

Kevin,

Ha ha... it was the Fellowship pen the one that did the drawing .... Done while waiting in the car for the girls to come out from the school. There is a very nice palmtree that I see every day, but it was not till today when I did the "thing".

Siv,

Thanks... and which one did you get... was it "my" blackish one??? he he... Congrats for yours... and waiting for your family portrait!

Joi

Thanks!

Gracias Jopen, always coming with beautiful photos and original (at least to me) arrangements.

May the girls keep you waiting [and drawing] for many days to come!

Thanks a lot for all the comments.

Both pens are fabulous pens, light but with enough "body" to feel confortably in the hand. I tend to hold pens at the barrel threads, but this one has a longer section and I never found myself with the fingers there... I think that this form will be a hit, being a totally different approach to the classic line of Takumi and in the same size range. It seems (from the last three by Kogaku) that they will experiment with different finishes on this body... will be interesting for sure!

Can you add some more light here... Kevin? or are you waiting till Feb the 14th ... ha ha...

I was told many pens will debut with the 2010 LA show and all Danitrio artists are hard at work... so I guess you will have to fly over to find out. LOL. From past experiences, most of the mid price new stuff would be gone by public day :-)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
