Renaissance Art

Has anyone had difficulty getting through to Renaissance Art lately? I am having a heck of a time. Note: I love their products and I am not mad, just mildly annoyed.

Why, sometimes I'd like to take a switchblade and a peppermint and a Cadillac and throw it all in a fire.

I've sent them some emails but received no responses so I moved on.

I like their stuff but to me it's an impulse buy so I don't get quick feedback I'll look elsewhere.

I have made a couple of purchases from them and their products are superb. But they are extremely tardy in answering emails and often just do not. But it is worth perservering if they have something you like because their service from time of purchase right through to the quality of their goods is first class.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I was worried that I had offended them or something. Not that I ever do that.

There is no denying the quality of their goods. My Folder Holder is a thing of beauty and my 3x5 case with composition book (I wanted it slightly bigger to fit Apica) that I ordered last night has already left NM, so their turnaround time is fabulous and I guess I can't really complain.

Apparently it gets here tomorrow, so I shall report back. My guess is that they just made the thing to fit Apica and figured that I would figure out the answer to my own question when I got it. Clever people.

Oooooohhhhhhh.......I've been drooling over their Folder Holder this afternoon......

I recommended a moleskine cover to the wife as a great Christmas present for you-know-who last week and a parcel came from them this week.

"how do I know what I think until I write it down?"

Arthur very nicely made me one in A4 size because I use Rhodia pads. It is big, but worth the extra bulk. It is my brain, but more organized. I have folders for everything and the card holder thing fits my Danitrio Mikado perfectly. I love it. I am working on a review of it.

Do you mind if I ask what the extra cost was for getting one specially A4 size?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
