Who is Dennis/DWL/vintagedelights?

Recommended Posts

i am posting this on behalf of DWL, who asked anybody who is owed money to contact him at either of these two addresses:

penman0924@aol.com

vintagedelights01@gmail.com

he seems prepared and ready to tackle refund issues head on. don't shoot me: i am the messenger. :)

[this is a repeat of the post already on repair forum, dennis requested that it be posted on both fora]

I just 'won', on Ebay, and paid with PayPal for an 'uninked P51', after an exchange of emails with 'Dennis', who seemmed a plausible fellow.

Today I discover that the transaction has been cancelled by Ebay because the seller is 'no longer a registered member'....but the money has still gone from my Paypal account

I have emailed him, and opened a Paypal dispute.

Can anyone thrown any light on this seller? It appears he has some 'previous' :(

Thanks

Hello. Long time lurker first time poster.

I am in a similar situation. I won one of his pens last week and saw he was unregistered when I logged on this morning. Just how concerned should I be?

The Caveat Emptor! above doesn't make me feel very optimistic.

When you bought the pen from this eBay seller, did he have a high number of feedback?

I've been in email contact with Dennis. He said he has been suspended for not paying his sellers fees on time. He assures me he will be selling again soon. Looking at his seller feedback, I'm not as concerned as I was.

Embarrassingly, that happened to me once because I forgot to check that mailbox after I'd shipped all the items. Fortunately, I didn't have anything I was selling at the time.

I have had 2 emails from Dennis saying that he'd forgotten to pay his fees and that if I close thew dispute he'll post the pen tomorrow.

(He also said he can't pay for his son's birthday present  )

My reply was that I'd close the dispute when I either got the pen or received a refund.....on the basis of the advice I've had here, I am pretty sure he's not dishonest, but if I closed the dispute and the pen still didn't arrive, I'd have no further recourse!

And , yes, I did check his feed back before buying....I clearly should've checked with you guys!!

Thanks, again...PayPal Customer Services assure me on the phone that my money is covered...but not if I close the dispute!!

I agree with you, Rogerb. The seller should mail you the pen before you close the dispute. I think as a seller he should realise that that it's the reasonable thing to do.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
