Well, I finally FOUND my desk. I've been looking for my perfect 29" height (most comfortable for me) and you can't believe how hard it is to find...unless you start looking at ladies secretaries. I thought this was decently priced and not frou frouey. Perfect for me! And a place to keep inks and all sorts of things, but is small and folds up smaller (always desirable by me since I live in a small space. I'm sure it won't be this tidy after a while.

 Wow. You do actually use this space, right? Or is it new like mine

Week hasn' started yet.

It will look a little different by Friday evening. :D

Btw, still looking for a secretary like yours or

a campaign desk for our living room. Difficult to find.

And is that a vintage typewriter, I see over there? It looks like one that my Mom used to use when I was young. Cool!

Hey Tmann,

That's my Royal portable. It was my dad's from the late 60s i think.

I have a closeup of it in my typewriter thread in the chatter

forum if you're interested.

Really? You can find these kinds of old secretaries easily here in 2nd hand shops and antique stores. I bet there were four or five in the little shop where I bought this. I am surprised. I sure do like mine. It is SSOOOOOOO perfect for keeping inks and pen things in.

I'm too ashamed to post a pic of my desk(s) :(  I want to move into Jeen's.  I reckon I could be quite comfy in there...

Peachez, I know the feeling... :D

Warm regards, Wim ;)

Peachez,

You're welcome of course.

A little different perspective - below the desk and behind the computer -

It has been quite a while but I've finally acquired a camera and taken a few photos of my desk and pens. If I figure out how to post them you can all see them!

I don't think anyone can beat me on mess.

Hi Piano Player,

I think I can, no, I know I do, as yours is only a few stacked items, so it can be surpassed quite easily actually. But I am not going to show my mess. Too ashamed to do so.

Let me say this: I have about 5 sq m of deskspace, and I have barely enough space to use my keyboard, with the computers, printers, monitor, KVM-switch, USB-hubs, scanner, battery-chargers, router, switches, cables, gear, books, cd-roms, books, journals, notepads, photo equipment, pens, papers, notepads, batteries, etc., etc., etc. all over the place, stacked on top of each other, and so on. It is a real mess.

On top of that, all official paperwork always ends up in my study, whether I carry it there or not, and I haven't had time yet to fix one wall where the book cases and cupboards go for paperwork and books, since the flooding we had last July.

Ah well. Once I have the wall fixed, and the book cases back up, I may just share a photograph :D.

Warm regards, Wim

Jeen, with that awsome spaghetti cable under the desk, wins the Gold Prize for having the workbench as entangled as mine...

Denis Richard wins the Gold Prize just because such a 'messy' desk makes me want to sit there!!!! Go figure...!!!!! Very nice desk and very nice pic.

I'm afraid that if a publish a pic of my desk I'l be banned from Internet forever.

It is nice to see, though, that most of you have a pic of your beloved ones near the workplace. Lovely detail.

Cheers.

  • 2 weeks later...

These are fun, I think there was a thread on PT a while back about this. My desk is maybe cleaner now:

There are actually two FP related items in this picture, one is a pen. And for you astute tech geeks out there, that's windows 2000 running on my extended monitor inside a virtual window on my new Mac. :)

Best-

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
