Pelikan 100nn--legit sale?

Have been watching this Pelikan on the Bay and, after Badrsj's experience with scammers, am wondering if this is a good gamble. Anyone know anything about this pen or the sellers? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=009

Thanks much, all.

He or she may be legit;with 207 feedback they have 1 neg within 6 months and 1 neutral within a year.

Still,I think the consideration is caveat emptor(buyer beware).

I don't see any reason not to bid on this - what are you suspicious of about it?

Ebay is always going to be a risk, but there aren't as many scammers there as some people believe...... IMO.

I have purchased a few pens from this seller without any problems.

Received in good time and as described in the Ebay auction.

Is this a display/dummy pen?

There are no photos of the nib; the turning knob-to-barrel attachment looks strange (to me, at least); and the "Look model" imprint make me think this is a non-functional display pen.

I could be wrong, or that might be what you are expecting this to be, but thought I'd mention it.

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

I was wondering about the same thing and didn't bid on it. Thanks for reaffirming that observation (glad it wasn't just me). But it's nice to know others have bought from him and had good results, since he has a lot of pelikans and prices are reasonable.

Hi,

I saw this an was tempted to bid but as Schau Muster roughly translates as review model I guessed it might be a dummy, normally with this seller they show the nibs, so another giveaway.

Whilst I thought they might have mentioned this, the words 'look model' are not on the actual pen cap, so I wonder if this was their attempt at pointing this out.

I have always regarded them as a reliable seller, feed back is good and I have bid on several pens in the past (don't think I have one any though).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
