Hi there..............

 

I have a Mont Blanc Meisterstuck Pix and I am trying to find out how and where it fits into the Mont Blanc linieage of fountain pens. Any ideas? :eureka:

Pix isn't a linieage of the meisterstücks for what I know.

Pix is stamped on most modern mb pens. I don't know what it tells. Maybe someone else knows it?

 

To help you with your pen, maybe you can post a picture of it? Or tell more about the model (color, material, nibcolor, filling system ect.) There was a website with all the montblanc models but I cant find it back right now.

Ok here is a pic. The nib's engraving says 4810, 14k and some other small 3 digit number starting with 5. It can use a cartrige or its mb converter.

Stani, I'm no expert but having asked similar questions quite recently here's what the numbers mean.

 

1. 4810 is the height of the Mont Blanc mountain, in meters.

 

2. the small three digit number is probably 585 which, I'm led to believe means 58.5% gold a.k.a 14 carat.

 

Yours looks similar to mind but I can't be sure on account of the orange cast on the clip and ring at the bottom of the cap. I think if it is the same as mine it's a 145.

 

I'll shut up now in case I make a total a$$ of myself with wrong information. :-)

Looking at the picture, I can't really say if its gold or platina. However it looks like a Meisterstuck 144 (classicue) or 145 (chopin) since you mention the cartrige/ converter. Both 146 and 149 can't use one so they can't be it.

It seems (looking at the picture) like you have to screw the cap onto the pen, not press it on. So keeping that in mind I think its an 145 Chopin. Nice pen, I got one myself, a platina one in medium

 

 

The 4810 engraved at the nib mentions the height meters of the mountain Mont blanc.

The wide band on my cap has engraved 'Montblanc Meisterstuck Pix®'. This is obviously a trademark word registered to Montblanc but as to its meaning in the context of this model of pen....??????

 

The cap is a screw fit not a slip on. Filling mechanism cartridge/converter.

The pen itself is approx the same height as a 144 but the barrel is much more narrow and the nib significantly smaller.

Any more info from the Montblanc experts out there please.

The term "Pix" was used by Montblanc a their name for a mechanical pencil at least since the 1930s. In the Continent it is often used as a generic term to describe a mechanical pencil or ballpoint pen. For Montblanc to have begun using the term on their fountain pen caps was patently silly and confusing. I was gifted an MB 144 fountain pen with a cap marked "Pix" and thought, understandably, that someone had substituted the cap of a rollerball by mistake. There is another thread about the revived use of the term "Pix" on this website. A search should reveal it.

The numbers are 585, which is te mark for 14k gold (585 parts of gold out of 1000). 18k's numbers are 750 (750 parts of gold out of 1000).

 

Bear in mind that only 24k gold is real gold; the rest are alloys.

Geez. I was hoping someone could give me some info. My husband and daughter teamed up and bought me one for Christmas! It's brand new, from the Mont Blanc Boutique at the Ala Moana Center, Honolulu. Mine has a screw-on lid, and the nib is marked Au 585 instead of the older 14K. The booklet that came with it has the model number written down as 106513, and it's a Meisterstuck Classique. Anyway, it's my first MB, so I'm pretty psyched. I totally wasn't expecting it, and started bawling when I opened it, and they both laughed at me. :crybaby: :roflmho:

 

I'll have to grab my close-up macro lenses and try to take some pictures. Must admit to being lazy about such stuff.

Hi,

 

It's a 145. The 144 has a snap-cap instead of the screw cap. It's a pretty good pen.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
