HOOGODDIT?

Got yourself new toys in your pre-Christmas trip, huh? I hope you had fun. The journal is not here yet. Or is here but the -18º C have prevented the postman from delivering it.

Merry Christmas to you all, anyway. Keep safe and warm.

No new toys, but John did tweak my Pilot 845 & Cross Verve a bit to make 'em even smoother....... I had a nice lunch with him and I said, in passing, that Mr B's more recent work for me had been less than wonderful. His reply doesn't bear repeating ....especially here !! I'll tell you another time.

MINUS EIGHTEEN ???? :o Good Grief....how do you survive it? It's a good thing I did my UK trip when I did :)

Take care and have a Happy Christmas and a good New Year....all of you! Kind regards to Ramon and a hug for Ana.

-20º C yesterday, actually, and snow by the seaside. I love white Christmases.

Journal has just been delivered. Kiavonne; UPS??????!!!!!

My kid is sick, the flu ( how could it be different, the holidays are here), but I will try to have the journal posted to Roger soon. Unless you want to read another year of the X family Christmas activities.......it might happen, you know.....

Since the big change to the FPN site, I find I've been on the boards less and less. Not that my interest in pens or you all has waned - not in the least - but that for some obscure reason, I just visit FPN less. I *am* using my pens more, which may account for some of it.

Today I was hungry to know where our little journal is on its rounds, especially after getting a sweet and unexpected Christmas card from Kimy, so I decided to check in with you all. I'm eager to read everyone's update (Roger, what IS your big news!? Clydesdave, tell us about your move and your new home) - oh, the anticipation!

We just celebrated our 32nd anniversary yesterday. The first 20 years were challenging. Then we quit trying to change each other (!) so the last 12 have been wonderful. Life's good.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

The journal will be posted as soon if I can manage to get to the Post Office!. The weather has suddenly decided to go back to the old times, and make this winter a real one. You all keep warm and safe!

Hello all

In view of what Ondina has just written, we should be telling her to 'keep warm and safe' :o

I am relieved I did my UK visit before all that white stuff arrived and chaos reigned!

I hope it's all gone by early Feb as I am going to celebrate my threescore and tenth b'day (on the 7th, same day as #1 daughter's) with my 3 girls :o

Also, coincidentally it's the SW Pen Show day :D

Thanks to Kudzu for the snail, to which I have at last replied, and to Kiavonne for the beautiful card.

If I neglected to answer your burning question in my mail, Kudzu, it's because it is beyond being even "Yesterday's News", as I'll explain, when Ondina manages to get to the PO! If you cannot wait until the ITJ 'gets around', just send me a PC and I'll enlighten!

Happy New Year

Roger

I have it, and the CD...(I hope that is explained in the TJ!)

I'll read it on the flight tomorrow .....if you have any inks you want (briefly) tested at the SW show, tell me tonight and I'll try...

I posted it to Jimothy yesterday, complete with that rather mysterious CD from Kimy!

Only 6 days(and nearly 6 pages, I think!) ......including my UK trip..... please take note :)

And I am the champion procrastinator (except when it's something I enjoy....in this case mostly bragging about my birthday pressies!!)

Take care y'all!

Have I done something to cause offence?

When Ondina says "Jump, Mister" you'd better ask "How High?" on the way up.

I wasn't sure if anyone would be able to see it on the overseas tour. I thought I'd put what it was in my entries. I was addled, still am a bit this year. It is really just a very short compilation of very old video clips of my mother doing what she liked best - having fun. Just a couple of memories preserved by one of her former coworkers and friends. Highlighted are a couple of her favourite times of year, Halloween and Christmas. She loved having little parties, and going to parties. She went all out with costumes. She had quite interesting ideas at times, and Dad always made them reality (he was the tailor, being as he had to sew his own parachutes while being a smokejumper). Like the time (briefly shown on the cd) when Mom decided they should all dress as black widow spiders for Halloween, save for the lone male in her office who was tapped to wear the fly costume...

I ramble.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..
    • A Smug Dill
Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
