Thanks for the reviews, Immoteus. Of the five, this and the moonlight blue look nicest to me.

Trust the Japanese to produce a range of ink comprising variants of the same colour. :happyberet:

Still, it's cheaper than Chanel No. 5 (it's the bottle). Isn't it?

since Diamine, J-Herbin and Noodlers offer a wide array of blues as well. But I must admit the bottle is attractive.

Impressive soak-test results there - very nice to know they all have some good water-resistance... :)

Thank you for this. :)

Thanks for the very informative review. And Laura, for pointing out the soak-test. (The way I sometimes zip through these threads, or anything on the computer screen, these 'fine points' just go right by me.) :)

Totally off-topic but how do you get a Bamboo with a FA nib?

Buy a 742 with an FA nib and swap.

Very nice ink comparison tests. Thanks for posting this. It is encouraging to see the ink hold up rather well to water.

A little extra eye candy, to compliment the review:

How different is this from Noodlers Navajo Turquoise or equivalent PR or Diamine ink - in terms of darkness of color?

I'm sure the behavior may be quite different., but wondering whether it's worthwhile plunking down triple the money for this ink.

Thanks

I have this ink and it reminds me a lot of the Quink I used to use at school.

It's a vibrant, summery, mid blue, and really well behaved, like the other Iroshizuku inks.

Noodler's Navajoe is much more turquoise than this ink; Ottoman Azure would be a better match.

I can't comment on the Diamine equivalent.

Although the Iroshizuku range is expensive, I do find the ink to be well behaved, so it is worth the money, however, for this particular shade, there is probably something else out there which is similar. As I note in my other post (above), it reminds me a lot of the Quink I used to use at school.

After reading this review (and a few others) I'm considering getting a few bottles of the Iroshizuku ink.

Thanks for the review Immoteus.

also, nice hand writing!

I got a sample of this ink and love it. Color, behavior, everything. If only there were more reasonably priced, they would be my daily inks.

It is very very expensive for India or rather Indians in India still I saw a beautiful picture of the bottle on flickr and within 5 minutes bought it on ebay that is kon peki. let us hope it is worth it when it arrives in India.

Just got the ink from Japan. Took just about six days to reach India which is really quick. Quite worth the price. It is a premium ink very unique colour. for Indian pen enthusiasts the colour is identical to one of uniball's disposable blue ink pens. The darker ones. I was expecting that colour almost by instinct and that is precisely the colour I got. Moneywise it is perhaps equal because each uniball costs about Rs.60 which is rather expensive for disposable pens in India.

Written on copy paper, there is nuance of purple on the edge of ink like actual tsuyu-kusa.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
