Many thanks. Based on this review, I think my next ink order will be from Pear Tree and will include this ink and a sampler of a few others!

ETA: Order placed. For anyone curious, I bought this ink, Visconti Blue in the V bottle, and a sampler with Visconti Burgundy, Sailor Jentle Grey, Omas Blue, and Diamine Turquoise in it.

Mayan Sacrificial Blue? I've not seen it unfortunately... Care to share? :)

Diamine China Blue reminds me a lot of Conway Stewart Blue by the way. I'm rather surprise this one appeals to various members. I would have thought it would be too light as far as blue inks go...

This one doesn't seem to be a lot lighter than Quink Blue, Skrip and Pelikan Royal Blue, although it looks a bit paler than the latter two, at least immediately after they go on the page and have not yet faded. I had cause to find out that Skrip Blue really is washable (to my great relief), when a pen blobbed onto my khakis when I was refilling it. I also gave Legal Lapis the empirical test under the same circumstances--that time on a tan summer suit. It really is eternal (to my great chagrin).

Excellent review...as always  I tried this in my Levenger Plumpster, broad nib, which gives me a slightly darker but still very smooth. Just a very nice ink, after all. Thanks again.

I ended up buying a bottle of this after seeing your review. Great color, looks really nice from the binder-ized sailor. Somewhat darker coming from my pen but i"m liking it more and more.

Thanks, your reviews are some of the best.

Thanks very much for the review! Am wondering if others have since tried this and could post reports...?

The other reviews have this ink looking very different: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...showtopic=68611

The color on this chart looks splendid: http://www.thewritingdesk.co.uk/inkchooser.php

Gran,

I just recently bought Diamine China Blue. I was anxious to see it's color because of the reviews you have linked. Mine looks like the one in this review. It's a beautiful light to medium blue that works well in my pens on the papers I've tried it on.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
