SpeerBob has a range of Conklin Metropolis for less than $45 each. The pens are NOS, shipped from US storehouses. I would like to have the Purple Mist, but I have been spending like mad recently.

I've read a few reviews complaining of the Metropolis's tendancy to gather ink on the nib feed and thus risk adding a big splodge of ink on to your page while writing that all important letter.

Does anyone have a more positive experience of this pen? It sure looks pretty and at a very affordable price.

D, which one is "The Pen"? A Crescent Filler?

The Pen is not a Conklin nor is it a crescent filler -- it'll be revealed to all when I receive it. (You know via PM, though)

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
