Thanks for the effort put into keeping this forum going. I used to run a much smaller gaming guild site... that was bad enough!

Your work is appreciated!

To The Adimin Team,

Thank you all very much for all your freely given time and hard work and many thanks too to the anonymous member who made it possible. Your joint efforts and generosity of both time and assets, financial and intelectual are much appreciated

The upgrade was painless at this end, I woke up and it was done, the site looks just as friendly and seems quicker and smoother in use, an all round improvement to an already splendid site and in such a short time. Cheers, John

Hey, everything looks fabulous! The admins have done a great job. And a big thanks to the generous co-member. Hmm. I just might upload an avatar, since the page looks really good. :)

Something looks different. Wow... The smileys are actually inserting when they're supposed to-- I don't have to cut and paste! Many, many thanks to the mysterious benefactor and to those who run this forum! I'm going to have fun getting myself acquainted with all these new functions.

Excellent work, dear Admins! :)

Thank you so much!

I was sorry to hear about the headaches that spammers/hackers caused all of you in the past, so I hope this upgrade will eliminate/reduce that potential problem....

Wow, did we always have the option of different fonts before? :o

Good work, Admins. Apparently I slept through the whole upgrade. I didn't notice a thing!

So many choices now! With posters able to select font styles and sizes, will there be a way to read posts in a plain style for those who prefer a less dramatic appearance?

From what I hear from admins of other boards, the upgrade won't solve the problem. We will continue to do manual registrations.

Yes, we were able to change our fonts :-)

Well, all I can say is that Admin has done a great job for such a quick and painless transition. I didn't even know one was in the works. I looked in the News forums only after the website came up looking very different than usual

PS: Is this new software more CPU intensive? The site seems slower, but it could just be a temporary thing on my side, or perhaps some settings still need to be tweaked.

Hi Margana,

Yes, there is such an option :). Check this:

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/lo...sion/index.php/

This is the option in the grey bar at the bottom, right in the middle: Lo-Fi version.

we can change the skin?

Armchop

Not yet, Armchop, not yet. We still are checking and updating the customizations. Whenever there si oen ready, or replaced, we'll make an announcement. It is a lot of work unfortunately, as we are not up-to-scratch with the new software and its completely different interface yet.

We first need to get this one up and running properly, as it is used by 97% of all members. I hope you can wait a bit :).

Warm regards, Wim

Very nice! Bravi!

It's something we'll be turning off when we find the switch :P

Should be fixed now.

We will have better control over it, though. There is a whole admin page devoted to security matters in the new board. Neat!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
