I've been planning to record our pen info and your application has made it very possible. Thanks.

Great program - Many thanks!

Is it / will it be possible to change the currency for the price paid (euros, US $,...) ?

Cheers

Michael

Mea culpa for forgetting that much of the world does not use real money. Just kidding. I'll see what I can do.

Would you want the currency preference by item or for the entire database?

...if you are talking about "real" money I think US $, Euros and GBP would be fine to me (..other may object) - at least these are the currencies I use to buy my pens with (living in Germany but also getting some deals from overseas) = currency preference by item would be great.

Otherwise as stated "great work".

Cheers

Michael

PS: I'm looking forward for an "ink" version :-)

Jon,

As b/c - thank you.

It's really nice to see people do stuff for others just because they can smile.gif
I hadn't gotten far enough along to make any comments about currency etc. but your attitude to suggestions is a joy.

I like the program, thanks! I would like to second the ability to total the "purchase price". Also, I'd really like to see a field for Year of Manufacture.

Thanks!

Thank you very very much, jonro, for making this wonderful database available smile.gif I stayed up late last night to figure out when I bought some of my pens going through my old journals. A lot more to enter though it's a fun project smile.gif

Jonro,

Thank you. I was planning on learning how to make a database with excel. You have saved me hours and hours and much emotional energy.

This is a VERY nice application. Thank you very much, Jon.

Only been playing with it for a couple minutes. Love that it offers what to fill in in the Manufacture and Model.

Comment:
--- At the end of the User Guide it sounds like there is more. It ends without a "." period. I tried to copy it to show you but that didn't work. said there were a few things to explain, mentioned "first and last" and ended. I have a PC running XP.

Off to fill in a few more pens. This is almost as much fun as buying them, waiting for the mail person to deliver.

Not certain I want the $ total feature others mention. Ignorance maybe be bliss in this situation.

Again, Thank you, Jon for this offering.

Thanks so much for this great application Jon! I've been a computer professional for 27 years and even worked for Big Blue for a decade. As a commercial software application specialist I've seen db's of every sort--good and bad. Yours is, by far, the most user friendly I've experienced. You are a great asset to this community.

Again, THANK YOU!

Best regards,

Jerry

P.S. Perhaps the collection total, etc., could be on a collection summary page that would give total value, number of pens per manufacturer, and total for each manufacturers collection. Sorry, I didn't mean to create more work for you.

Holey Moley! What a fantastic database! Very easy to use (once I figured out how
to open it lticaptd.gif ). I'm a little less than 2 months into fountain pens, and I've
now spent HOURS filling in the info. Who knew that I'd have to look up so much!
What will all you veteran fountain pen people do with your hundreds of pens!? Of course,
since I have so many vintage pens, and I know so little about them (especially
model info) I've spent a large part of my time researching pens by brand and era.
Tremendous learning opportunity. Your application has given me a much needed
gentle push in that direction, as well as started me out on this pen collection
road in the right direction by having me catalogue my pen information as I go
now. WOW - I love it. What a great gift to our community.

HI Jon:
I join the ranks in thanking you for this database. I plan on beginning the task this holiday weekend.
When will the next version be available? The one with the ability to total prices.
Thanks,

Many thanks for the database, it's a great piece of software.

I would support those comments that suggested additional currencies. Personally I'd prefer GBP of course.
But I guess the user would have to choose which currency to show the entire list in. Otherwise a total cost field would be rather difficult.

I may be at fault myself, so please point me in the right direction if I'm doing something wrong but...

I add photos to the 'Photos' tab page in 'Record View'. Beneath the photo placeholder there's a field for listing 'Open', 'Closed', 'Posted' etc
Everything OK so far.
Now I move to the 'Pen Information' tab - and there's the thumbnails of my pictures.
Beneath the central, larger photo is a field that ought to display the photo title (the previously entered 'Open', Closed' etc.
My problem is that no matter which photo is displayed in the central position, the description field remains the same - i.e. the field description of the first photo in the file. huh.gif

Jonro,

I was inputting my pens into your software and I went to print the records and it cuts off the right side of the page. I set my printer preferences to landscape and it still does the same thing. I went into your database and could not find any option on scaling or resizing your document to fit to page. Can you help me resolve this issue please.

thanks Robert
