18 years searching?

Good Lord, why?? There are usually at least 3 or 4 on Ebay at any given time.

I never saw a Flighter under the US$ 300 range... And I didn't have this money. Here in my country, any parcel which costs > US$ 50, is heavily taxed (60%)...

Last week, I saw in a local auctions site, this one, which costs R$ 400.00 (+/- US$ 130.00)... It's my turn!!!

Oh gosh, and I thought living in Denmark was hard...

Our taxation limit is about $11 - taxes are 'only' 25%, but our mail service charge $22 for laying the money out for us :(

Lovely, lovely pen. After restoring my Parker Vacumatic, I might get a Parker 51 although I'm not too fond of hooded nibs.

NO WAIT - I've spent way too much on pens lately!!!

Congratulations. I'm not overly partial to Flighters, myself, but I can see how they would appeal to others.

So, what's the nib on it?

I bet I know what pen Eduardo is going to list every day for the next month in the "What Parker are you using today?" thread...

Eduardo - Congratulations! I know you like your flighters, and I hope this one gives you enjoyment for years to come.

Brian

PS - I like the use of the floor tiles to keep the pen oriented while you photographed it.

Very nice pen Eduardo, congratulations on the find :) I love the 51 flighter, and would love to have one but I can't justify the prices. I hope one day I might find one like yours, even if it takes me 18 years!

Congratulations, a lovely pen. I love the gold ring in the cap. Such a nice touch in the design. A long hunt can be frustrating, but it's satisfying when it finally ends in such a success.

Yes, but 18 years?

If you'd put away even $5 a month you'd have owned one a decade ago.

Current prices are higher than historic ones, but even today they sell regularly for $150-200. here's one that went last month for $132.

To each his own - perhaps the long deferral of gratification made it all the greater when it finally came....

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
